One of Chile’s Navy proudest incorporations is the Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV 81) “Piloto Pardo. The “Piloto Pardo” is one of four OPV under the Danubio IV project. The vessel driven by two engines diesel Wärtsilä this ship, which will displace 1.771,6 tons full load, will reach a top speed of 20 knots in sea 2 State to 80% MCR. She has equipment to detect and help contain sea contamination. The bridge can be manned with just four persons. The ship operates during summer months in fisheries patrol protection, search and rescue operations and other Chilean sovereignty activities along the country’s long coastline and EEZ. The “Piloto Pardo” was entirely built in Chile following on German OPV Fassmer blueprints adapted for the needs of the Chilean navy and was commissioned in June 2008. She is 80 metres long, has a draught of 3.8 metres, maximum speed of 20 knots, displaces 1.728 tons and includes a small landing pad for a Dauphine helicopter and is equipped with two fast boarding boats. She is manned by a crew of 35 and has an autonomy of approximately 30 days, equivalent to 8.000 nautical miles.
In September, 2014 Acromex is invited to participate in the PID (Programa Inspection Dique) of the of the"Piloto Pardo" and we are entrusted with the maintenance of pumps of various sizes and applications as well as the testing reporting protocol of the two Wartsila 12V26A2 main engines of 4080 Kw each. Among the main activities performed during this process, Acromex checked camshaft gear backlash on both Port and Starboard Engines, Pumps of HT and LT gear backlash , calibration and assembly of the 24 injectors of both port and starboard engines.
